We want to celebrate the gifts and skills of our team and partners that support the growth of our Soul Medicine community.
Avani Jaya, known to most as Mama Bear, was born in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Her heritage is Scottish-Irish, Tsalagi (Cherokee), and Muskogee (Creek). She was passed the native traditions from her grandmother at a very young age, always keeping herself close to the Great Mystery.
She spent time in Guatemala, where she walked the Shamanic Altars with the thirteen Shaman Elders, who guided and taught her the traditional Mayan ways. For many years, Avani trained with Brazilian-Shaman, Carlos Sauer, or “Brother Bear,” who was adopted by Nelson Turtle of the Southern Cheyenne tribe. Taught in the Cheyenne ways, she was “passed the bucket” or rights to be a “Water Pourer” for prayer ceremonies and given the Turtle Altar, representing the Cheyenne sweat lodge. After a vision during a NativeAmerican Sundance in South Dakota, a Lakota, Dakota, Nakota tribe, Avani was charged, by Chief Golden Light Eagle, to take the Star Altar “bundle” back home to the North Georgia Mountains. The Star Altar is the highest sweat lodge altar one can receive. With the Chief’s guidance, she replaced the Turtle Altar taking the ceremony to a higher frequency.
Avani taught at Edgar CayceAssociation for Research and Enlightenment and was a facilitator of the Robert Monroe Institute. She is also Co-founder of Soul Medicine, Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps individuals that suffer from P.T.S.D., addiction, anxiety, and much more.
Weekly, Avani counsels individuals that wish to deepen their spiritual walk, giving guidance and practical tools to utilize in their daily lives to attain their personal and spiritual goals. As a certified Hypnotherapist, Mama Bear offers past-life regression and healing sessions to assist her clients.
Avani is also a prolific yoga instructor, passing on the teachings given to her by her Guru and Teachers throughout her walk. Soul Medicine offers Yoga Teacher Training certification and the “Life Mastery Program” for those wishing to grow spiritually and attain more mindfulness in their earthly walk. Along with many different counseling modalities, Avani now offers Quantum Healing Hypnosis Therapy.
Alisha, known by all as Scout, Avani’s partner, has been an integral member of the natural health industry for over 25 years. She began her studies at age 17, after watching her mother battle breast cancer, which led to bone cancer, and her eventual death.
Through witnessing the lack of awareness of nutritional approaches by the “medical community,” her passion was ignited to educate the world about alternative approaches to health and wellness.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Holistic Nutrition and is an organic food chef/owner/operator of Holistic Lifestyle Center and Café in Canton, Georgia.
She offers consultations for those stricken with illness, varying widely from digestive issues to cancer. Medical doctors regard Alisha highly for her in-depth knowledge of nutritional imbalances that lead to chronic illness and disease. She works closely with these doctors, many of which refer patients desiring a more natural route to health and wellness.
She offers Live Blood Cell Analysis, personal detox plans, nutritional counseling and meal plan prep. Alisha also is a gifted medium.
Kevin, known by most as Skanda Kali, met his Guru in 2000, Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati, his inner path of yoga was awakened. He took his first 200-hour RYT classical yoga teacher training in 2002 and lived in an urban yoga ashram for over ten years, living, breathing and sharing the yogic lifestyle.
He has been personally trained for several years by yogic master Ma Jaya in the teachings of Kali Natha Tantric Yoga and has received an additional 200-hour and 500-hour RYT certifications.
Teaching yoga and meditation since 2002 to all levels, he has also taught yoga extensively in the addiction recovery community.

The transformative power of yoga has been unquestionably the most transforming, joyful, and revealing aspect of the Self. The dance between movement and inner stillness is a way of being, awakening his passion for life while evolutionary growth naturally unfolds. He considers it an honor and a gift to share the yogic teachings so freely shared with him.
Robert, also known as Kali Nam Bhagavan, is naturally gifted and derives energy and joy from helping get things done.
Robert has experienced many roles in his life but not limited to a writer, fashion stylist…
blogger, social media and technology geek, artist, interior designer, baker, waiter, hairstylist, salon co-owner, small business coach, educator, hobbyist-videographer, certified yoga teacher, graphics artist, community builder, fire keeper, chicken chaser, and handyman, not necessarily in that order.
As a former wardrobe stylist, he dressed hundreds of individuals. The best part was the one-on-one time with each of them. Robert was paid to make them look stunning on the outside, but his Soul purpose was to point them inward to find that sustained beauty and happiness they seek on the inside.
More recently, Mama Bear and the Soul Medicine community have helped Robert discover ways to utilize his skills to grow our community and to grow spiritually as an individual.
